Note: Express Passes do not guarantee immediate access to the front of the line.

During peak times at Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe, you may still experience a wait when using Express; nonetheless, this wait will be much shorter compared to the standby line.

Types of Express Pass

Express Passes are available as one-park, two-park and three-park options.

  • 2-Park – Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure

Plus Pass – includes all the attractions.

How much is an Express Pass?

Universal Express Passes are an add-on to your theme park admission. The price of a standalone Express Pass can fluctuate daily. Check the Express Passes store (US) for prices. Certain Universal hotels have unlimited Express access included in the package.

In addition, you’ll find hotel locations, shopping amenities, guest service information, and a lot more.

Child Swap at Universal Orlando Resort Rides

What is Child Swap?

Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe feature a system called “Child Swap”. This system enables children to bypass rides if they are either too short or simply choose not to experience the attraction. This provides other members of the group the chance to enjoy the ride without having to wait in line again.

How does Child Swap work?

A family consisting of Mum, Dad, and their two kids is eager to enjoy a ride. However, one of the children is either too short or simply prefers not to ride. The entire family approaches the attraction together, informing the attendant that they would like to utilize the Child Swap option.

While either Mum or Dad and the taller child experience the ride, the other parent and child remain in the Family Room or a designated area until the rest of the group comes back from the ride. Once the ride concludes, the other parent has their chance to enjoy the attraction.

Single Rider

The single rider line is an excellent option for solo travellers or those who are open to riding separately from their group. Additionally, it helps to fill any vacant seats, which speeds up the line.

Signs mark the entrance of single rider lanes with attendants on hand to help if required.

The opening times for the parks in Universal Orlando vary depending on the specific park and day of the week. Generally, the parks open between 8:00am and 9:00am (including early park admission).

It is advisable to check the official Universal Orlando Resort website Hours and Events Calendar, or the Universal App for the latest up-to-date information on park hours. This will also give you valuable information on any temporary closures.

When is the best time to visit

Determining the ideal time to visit Universal Orlando Resort can be overwhelming and depends on various factors and your personal priorities. Here, we outline some key considerations.

View of Universal Orlando Resort main street

A pair of carved glowing pumpkins

Crowds

Fewer crowds translate to shorter wait times and more opportunities to enjoy your visit. Naturally, you can anticipate larger crowds during school breaks, public holidays, and the summer months. However, if you have school-aged children, your options might be a bit more restricted.

Ways to avoid the crowds

  • Visit during off season
  • Go during the week
  • Arrive at the parks as early as possible

Weather

Florida can get extremely hot and humid, particularly during the summer months of July and August when temperatures average as high as 82°F, (28°C). However, visiting during the summer has its perks, such as longer daylight hours and extended opening times at theme parks, along with a variety of entertainment options.

The months of December and February offer a more pleasant climate. Keep in mind that hurricane season runs from June to November, which means there’s a greater likelihood of rain and storms, so it’s wise to bring some wet weather gear.

For a more enjoyable experience at Disney World Resort, we recommend planning your visit in the spring or autumn when the weather is warmer and the humidity is lower, making it easier to explore the parks, especially for families with young children or older adults.
