Opened in May 2025 Epic Universe is not just a new theme park it is a massive expansion that transforms Universal Orlando into a multi-day, world-class vacation destination. Focusing on total immersion, cutting-edge technology, and a scale that allows each themed land to be a full-day experience in itself.

The park’s layout is unique. Instead of lands blending into one another, they are arranged like planets around a sun.

Each land is completely isolated from the others, with no visual or auditory “cross-contamination.” When you’re in the Ministry of Magic, you won’t see or hear anything from Super Nintendo World. This deepens the sense of being in another world.

A Comic Book Come to Life

The land is arranged around a sparkling, crystal-blue lagoon and is dominated by the magnificent Universal Globe, a rotating, star-filled orb that serves as the park’s icon. The entire area is filled with walking paths, gardens, and water features.

From here guests can walk through Universal Portals into the other lands located at Epic Universe. Each portal is a work of art that thematically represents the world it leads to:

Stardust Racers

Inspired by the thrill of a shooting star, this coaster features two trains that launch simultaneously and race each other at speeds of 62mph along a sprawling, intertwining track. It’s packed with airtime hills, high-speed manoeuvres, and near-miss moments.

This is one of the park’s headline thrill rides, a must-do for coaster enthusiasts.

Constellation Carousel

A beautifully designed spinning carousel that is perfect for families, showcasing celestial creatures inspired by zodiac symbols such as lions, dragons, and seahorses.

As the ride moves along, these creatures individually spin through 360 degrees and rise and fall up to 6 feet, providing a delightful yet gentle experience for all ages.

Along with individual rides a small number of group ride vehicles are also available.

Astronomica

An interactive play area and water feature. Visitors can manipulate models of the planets and constellations, causing water to dance and jump in sync. It’s a creative and cooling spot for children to play.

Seating is available giving parents a break whilst watching the children safely at play. Be mindful of the chance of getting wet!

As you step through the foreboding, monstrous portal from Celestial Park, the mood shifts dramatically. Enter the Dark Universe a land themed around a dark, gothic village called Darkmoor where The architecture is a mix of gothic structures and rustic, timber-framed houses, all surrounding a mysterious, dark water lagoon.

Here the worlds of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, and Dr. Frankenstein’s experiments exist in a perpetually dark and stormy corner of Europe.

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment

A next-generation dark ride that uses advanced ride systems to create an unpredictable experience.

The Queue and Pre-Show

Wind through the rustic, gothic halls of the Frankenstein estate, filled with family portraits, ancient tomes, and artifacts from the original experiments. In a pre-show room, you meet Dr. Victoria Frankenstein who continues to experiment to control the power of monsters.

The Ride

The tour begins peaceful then, until a catastrophic power surge occurs, and your vehicle’s path becomes erratic and reactive. The vehicles might even split up and take different paths through the chaotic lab whilst being confronted by angry monsters until you finally escape and leave the chaos behind.

Expect some of the most advanced and expressive animatronics ever created by Universal. With a full range of effects: blasts of heat from electrical explosions, cool mist, the smell of ozone, and immersive sound effects.

Curse of the Werewolf

A high-speed, musical-themed roller coaster. set during a vibrant, chaotic village festival celebrating the full moon.

Guests board what seems like a festive carnival ride, but it’s quickly revealed that the celebration is a ritual to lure out a werewolf. As the coaster launches, the festive music synchronizes with the ride’s spinning motions whilst moving back and forth along the track.

Being outdoors the ride is much more enjoyable at night.

If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, or the Wolf Man, then you’ve found the right spot! This is a paid experience available by appointment, where you will be transformed using professional-grade special effects makeup.

Enter a detailed, immersive environment that feels like a back-alley artist’s studio in Darkmoor. The setting is filled with eerie props, strange potions, and reference sketches of iconic monsters, setting the mood for your transformation.

The experience offers an engaging, live entertainment attraction where you can select from a variety of iconic monster designs and then see yourself transformed into the creation you picked.

As you journey through Darkmoor, you’ll encounter its local inhabitants—a monster hunter and a musician who spins captivating stories of Universal Monster legends.

How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

A vibrant, living replica of the Viking village from the beloved animated films. It’s designed to be incredibly expansive and family friendly.

This land is designed to be the ultimate realization of the beloved DreamWorks Animation film series. It’s not just a themed area; it’s a fully immersive, living replica of the Viking island of Berk, where guests can step directly into the world of Hiccup, Toothless, and all their favourite dragons.

The scale is intended to be vast and breathtaking, making you feel like you’ve truly travelled to this mythical Norse archipelago.

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders

Guests board individual “flying dragons” and soar alongside Hiccup and Toothless on a scenic flight over the Isle of Berk.

This is a fun family roller coaster that offers breathtaking views of the land and a thrilling, but not intense, coaster experience, making it perfect for younger aspiring dragon riders.

Experience an interactive, family-friendly water attraction.

Step aboard the Viking longboats that come with water cannons! Your mission is to collaborate and extinguish the flames ignited by the playful fire-breathing dragons positioned around the ride. Be prepared, as other Vikings might get drenched along the way!

Ride length – 7 minutes.

Dragon Racer’s Rally

Enjoy a family-friendly spinning roller coaster ride designed to simulate the exhilarating experience of a Viking dragon racing tournament.

Climb aboard dragon-themed ride vehicles that spin freely and do high-flying barrel rolls and aerobatic manoeuvres as they race along a duelling track up to 67 feet high.

The wonderful aspect is that rather than using a control lever to steer the ride vehicle, you have two wooden wings equipped with handles. These can be operated independently, allowing for both vertical and horizontal movement.

Viking Training Camp

An outdoor children’s play area featuring a Viking agility course with slides, ropes, and bridges, a teeter-totter themed after Toothless, baby Gronckle climbers, and other dragon-themed playground equipment.

A wonderful place for kids to burn off energy while you take a moment to relax.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD

Your journey begins with one of the most iconic transitions in any theme park. You walk through a colossal, green warp pipe. As you do, the sounds of the real world fade away, replaced by the familiar, upbeat melodies of the Mario games. You emerge into Princess Peach’s Castle, which serves as the gateway into the sprawling, colourful landscape of the Mushroom Kingdom.

The land is split into two distinct areas:

  • Super Mario Land – filled with spinning coins, “?” blocks, Piranha Plants, Goombas, and the majestic Princess Peach’s Castle.
  • Donkey Kong Country – a lush, tropical jungle area with waterfalls, giant trees, and Donkey-Kong-themed landmarks like the Golden Temple.

Power-Up Band

This is what sets SUPER NINTENDO WORLD apart. The entire land is an interactive playground.

What is it?

The Super Nintendo World Power-Up Band is an interactive wristband allowing the user to interact with the land, collect digital coins and stamps as well as play mini games in the Universal Orlando app. It comes is several designs including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and more.

Additionally, besides being used in theme parks, the band can also function as an amiibo, providing a fun and unique way to engage with your favourite Nintendo characters and compatible games on the Nintendo Switch.

Purchase and Availability

The Power-Up Bands are a separate purchase available at gift shops throughout Epic Universe. The bands cost around $45, plus tax. Annual passholder discounts may apply.

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge

Located in Super Mario Land. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is an interactive dark ride where riders hop in a kart, and race through familiar Mario Kart circuits.

Each kart holds 4 passengers each with their own steering wheel and console. Each passenger wears an AR/VR-headset overlaying the real world with computer generated scenes and objects from the Mario Kart games.

Riders earn coins which can be saved to the Power-Up Bands if purchased. Riders can still accumulate coins if they don’t have a band, but they won’t be saved.

This is a quick and exciting game that is a lot of fun to participate in. You’ll definitely want to return for more!

Enter the Golden Temple before boarding your mine cart. The thrilling ride features a unique system that creates the illusion of jumping rails, as mine carts seem to soar over gaps in the track, replicating the excitement of the video game.

During the ride, you’ll traverse through jungle environments, be propelled from a barrel, and manoeuvre along precarious-looking tracks.

The character meet-and-greets in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD are designed to be as immersive as the land itself.

Guests can expect to meet a rotating cast of the most famous characters, typically including:

  • Mario and Luigi – might be found near the start of the race track or in a plaza, ready for action.
  • Princess Peach – often greets guests in the courtyard of her stunning, pink-and-white castle.
  • Toad – can be found outside or inside the Toadstool Cafe, acting as the enthusiastic host.
  • Donkey Kong – will likely be in his own jungle-themed section, perhaps near the entrance to his Mine-Cart Madness coaster.

This land transports guests to a completely new time and place in the Wizarding World: 1920s Paris and the iconic Ministry of Magic headquarters in London, as seen in the Fantastic Beasts film series.

Locate a magical gateway that transports you into the majestic Atrium of the Ministry of Magic.

Emerge into the vast, awe-inspiring hall with dark, polished wood floors, towering pillars, and a gleaming, peacock-blue ceiling adorned with moving, golden symbols. Wizards in period-appropriate ministry robes hurry about, and the air is thick with the intrigue of the global wizarding community during the rise of Grindelwald.

Set in the British Ministry of Magic, during a dramatic trial of Dolores Umbridge.

The Queue and Pre-Show

The queue itself is an awe-inspiring experience. Guests arrive via a Métro-Floo corridor, inspired by the Floo Network from the films, bringing them from wizarding Paris to the Ministry. Pass through a grand atrium with the Fountain of Magical Brethren and a magical “weather ceiling”. Continue to meander through Ministry departments, including Dolores Umbridge’s pink office, before boarding a magical lift.

The Ride

Ride vehicles are described as “magical omnidirectional lifts” that can travel in any direction. They are beautifully designed with comfortable cushioned seats and brass panels, accommodating up to 14 passengers.

Your vehicle will carry you through a series of iconic Ministry Departments, each representing a major set-piece from the film. Trying to stop you are the deadly Death Eaters and other rampaging creatures. The end goal is to bring Umbridge to Justice.

Be aware this is a very popular ride, and queues can be long. Try and take advantage of the Express Pass.

Le Cirque Arcanus

Experience a live theatre show located under a large magical old fashioned circus tent in Place Cachée. Enter through a circus-style queue, passing sideshow booths and “curiosities” before emerging into the big-top theatre.

The show is inspired by the Fantastic Beasts universe mixing live performers, aerialists, puppetry, and impressive special effects, all woven around magical creatures that emerge from Newt Scamander’s stolen suitcase.

Combined magic, puppetry, and acrobatics gives the performance an authentic circus vibe infused with a touch of wizardry. It’s perfect for families and enthusiasts of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts.
